What is a Lo P'an?

A Lo-P'an is a Chinese compass derived from the teachings of the I-Ching, the Book of Change. The original Lo-P'an provides all the orientations for every method of divination. It is written in Chinese, is quite large and rather difficult for Westerners to decipher. The Sang's Lo-P'an is a simplified compass designed to be used specifically for Feng Shui readings by Westerners.

People often ask what "school" of Feng Shui thought we belong to. We are often referred to as "Compass School" or "Traditional Feng Shui" Practitioners. We say that Feng Shui is a complete practice and that it includes form, environment, and orientation. Without a compass, or Lo-P'an, an accurate reading cannot be calculated. As small as 3 to 5 degrees can change the entire nature of a building.

The Sang's Lo-P'an designed especially for the Western student who is using it for Feng Shui exclusively. This Lo-P'an has been simplified and modernized with 24 sections covering the eight directions and each of the corresponding Trigrams. It was designed for easy and accurate reading.
