Happy Spring Establishment!
Today February 4th marks the change to the new Chinese Solar New Year. Also known as the Spring Establishment, it is the cut-over from the old year to the new year. The Chinese mark this date as the 1/2 way point between the Winter Equinox and the Spring Solstice. As such, the beginning of Spring is determined to be today in the Chinese Solar Calendar. This is important to Feng Shui. The calculations for the annual influence changes today. We now begin the Kun (2) earth year.
Keep in mind that this is different than the Chinese Lunar New Year. The Lunar new year is based obviously on phases of the moon, but it is the New Year that most people recognize with Dragon Parades and parties. Don’t forget to eat your “moon-cakes!”
